TailMeds is operated by SilentPixel. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us through the TailMeds pet care and medication reminder app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

- Account information: email address and login credentials

- Pet information: pet names, species, breed, age, weight, medication schedules, and an optional pet photo

- Veterinarian details: optional vet name, phone number, and address you add to your pet's records

- Health notes: optional notes you add about your pet's health

- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version (used for diagnostics)

- Payment information: payments are processed by the Apple App Store and Google Play; subscription status is managed via RevenueCat. We never receive or store your card details

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR — EU Users)

We process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by Article 6 of the GDPR:

- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): to provide the core app functionality (account management, medication reminders, pet records)

- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to improve app performance, diagnose issues, and maintain security

- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): to comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities

- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): for push notifications and, once implemented, analytics — you may withdraw consent at any time

We use your data to:

- Create and manage your account

- Send medication reminders and push notifications

- Provide customer support

- Improve and debug the app

- Process payments

- Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Third-Party Services and SDKs

We share limited data with trusted third parties only where necessary:

Reminders are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your device. We do not use remote push services, and no notification token or device identifier is sent to Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) for this purpose.

Analytics are not yet active. This policy will be updated before any analytics provider is added.

6. Data Storage and Security

TailMeds is a local-first app: your pet records are stored primarily on your device. When you create an account, your data is backed up to and synced with Supabase cloud storage so it can be restored and kept up to date across sessions. Pet photos are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to the cloud.

Cloud data is hosted on Supabase infrastructure that applies:

- Encryption in transit (TLS)

- Encryption at rest (AES-256)

- Access controls limiting who can view your data

- Regular security monitoring

While we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure.

7. International Data Transfers

Supabase and other providers may process your data outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data remains protected to EU standards.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

- Account and cloud pet data: retained until you delete your account

- Payment records: retained for up to 7 years to meet financial/legal obligations

- Device and diagnostic logs: retained for up to 90 days

- Deleted account data: your cloud account and the data synced to it are purged within 30 days of account deletion, except where longer retention is required by law

You can delete your cloud account at any time from Settings → Delete account within the app. This permanently removes your cloud account and synced data; any records stored locally on your device remain under your control and are removed when you uninstall the app. You can also request deletion by contacting us at hello@tailmeds.app.

9. Push Notifications

We use local notifications, scheduled on your device, to deliver medication reminders. These do not rely on remote push servers and no data leaves your device to send them. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings; doing so does not affect your account or data.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you

- Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected

- Deletion: request that your data be deleted ("right to be forgotten")

- Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format

- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests

- Restriction: request that we limit how we use your data

- Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing

You can delete your account directly in the app via Settings → Delete account. To exercise any of your other rights, contact us at hello@tailmeds.app. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the EU and believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Children's Privacy

TailMeds is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email, and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
